“My daughter - who loves musical theater and has participated with multiple youth programs - joined Music West for their productions in 2022, and she truly cherishes it. From performing with a live orchestra to practicing the craft with performers of all ages, it has been a truly unique and different experience than she gets from other youth theater groups she's been a part of. As she's grown and becoming more experienced in time, I also see her incorporating specific learned skills that I know she acquired directly from Music West and their emphasis on them - things like positioning on stage, acting and reacting to dialogue she's not directly a part of, specific dance skills and learning how to perform within large-scale group ensemble numbers and more subtle and nuanced teachings she's received from the music directors and choreographers. And because just about all of the directors and other masterminds that run the program got their start just like her, as young actors and musicians that joined Music West in their elementary and middle school years, I know that she really looks up to them as role models - and in that regard I must say they are tremendous and kind-hearted ones - and sees Music West as an ongoing opportunity she always can and will call a home for as long as she's in and around the Los Angeles area.”

Music West provides a safe, welcoming environment where my children and I can go to sing, dance and play pretend together. With busy school schedules, a demanding career and life in greater Los Angeles, this is truly a remarkable gift.
My introduction to Music West was through attending a performance in 2023. My daughters and I were taken in by their production of The Music Man, seeing friends on stage and being exposed to songs, choreography and sets which were lively and engaging. When the following year’s production of The Sound of Music was announced, my eight-year-old daughter was determined to be up on the stage. Her excitement propelled us through auditions and into principal
roles for the show. Having participated in musical theater in high school and some acting after college, I was expecting hard work and long hours to get a show on its feet. And while that hard work was present, we also found a group of people dedicated to creating art, teaching, growing and having fun.
I believe most people think of “community theater” as being made up of actors and musicians, producers and technicians from their city or town. Music West goes beyond those sentiments and creates a community inspired to share their gifts, grow in skills and promote respect and kindness.”

“I had the privilege of being cast in a production of Hello Dolly this year with my 13 year old daughter. I had not been on a stage for 20 years and never had the unique experience of such a loving and caring group of people behind Music West. Everyone in the community that auditions is given a part and what was most impressive to me is the care and patience that the staff showed to all of the children involved. It was a pleasure to see just how much fun everyone had in the experience. My daughter has done two productions now with Music West and her self esteem has improved immensely. Everything that she had told me about what she envisioned the production would be came to fruition. It is my hope that Music West continues to thrive as they have shown themselves to be the real deal when it come to community”
