Dear Patrons,
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your support as Music West heads into exciting, uncharted territory with new ideas and fresh faces. There are a lot of things that can be done to further the excellent guidance both Mr. & Mrs. Remington have given our children (and adults). I believe that with positive insight we can accomplish the goals of Music West, Inc. and also have a good time!
Westchester and Playa del Rey have the unique position of being located at the very heart of the transportation hub of one of the most dynamic cities on the planet. We have within a stone's throw a plethora of world-class entertainment facilities. Amidst this world of high-finance, multi-million dollar appearance fees, & sports pursuits, are children who need encouragement to see the world-at-large. Our children deserve to know the Arts and need a local safe outlet, and they want it. More on that later.
For all intents and purposes Music West offers our children a healthy dose of real-world acting, gaffing, rigging, staging, and drama themed interaction. This is delivered to the public in an undeniably rich Broadway-caliber performance, and personally, I've seen major rock concerts which don't hold a candle to the excitement and enthusiasm exhibited on closing night. On nights like these there isn't any place on earth I'd rather be!
Music West needs the support of the community. As a parent or student, there are numerous things with which we encourage you to get involved: Set Design, Graphic Arts, Acting, Production, Cleaning, Sound Design, and Fund Raising to name just a few. Of course there's also driving to the rehearsals, but it's the encouragement that goes into the drive. What a great way to start your day...spending some quality time with the kids!
Now for the More Later part. With successful productions up and running, the primary goal of the Board of Directors is now to locate a permanent performance building. I've been asked to head the committee which oversees the acquisition of property, funding, and entitlements to make this happen. It is a task which I feel rather qualified to handle but that's another subject. We need a replacement for the Loyola Theater building. We are asking for your help in reaching this worthy goal. Now before you click again, read on to find out more about how and when you can help!
We need 5 volunteers to run the steering committee for the fundraising aspect of the building project. I'm willing to take the first five callers at the Music West Hotline. (310-692-0006). These volunteers will meet regularly to discuss and outline the strategies necessary to obtain our goals. I am prepared to offer lifetime Director Circle rewards to those ambitious 5 who help to make this goal a reality.
This should be a viewed as a career position, and no drop outs will be permitted. So now without further adieu let's get this thing going!
I'm looking forward to seeing you at the theater!
Sincerely,
Robert B. Sawyer, G.C., A.I.A. |
